Job Pointer includes a simple search function to help you find bookmarks for sites and resources you are interested in.
Fetch searches bookmark titles in the Big Dogs, Search Where, Hunt What, Job.News and Career Esources databases.
Please note:
The toolbar changes when you go to Fetch. It retains the Jump Up button, which will return you to whatever level you were at before you moved into Fetch. The rest of the toolbar is taken over with the Fetch 'Em button, query entry field and criteria options for your bookmark search.
It is simple to search for bookmarks within Job Pointer. Enter a word or words in the query field. Select the criteria of Any or All. Click on the Fetch 'Em button. If your cursor is still in the query entry field, you can press the enter key instead of clicking the button.
JP uses a lot of abbreviations in bookmark titles. To make the most effective use of Fetch, you may want to familiarize yourself with the list of common abbreviations.
Search for Any
Search for ANY word or words you enter in the query field by selecting the
Any radio button. This is the default search and will already be selected
when you first enter Fetch. Results will include bookmarks with any single
term you have entered. For example, if you query for only one word, "Akron".
Only bookmarks with the word "Akron" in their title are returned.
If, however, you enter both "Akron" and "Ohio" in the
query field, then any bookmark with EITHER "Akron" OR "Ohio"
in its title will be returned in your results.
Search for All
Search for ALL words you enter in the query field by selecting the All radio
button. For example, searching for "Akron" and "Ohio" with the All option selected,
the bookmarks returned will contain BOTH words in their title. Searching
for ALL when entering two or more query terms limits your results, usually
significantly.
Retain Your Results
You can retain the results of a search when doing subsequent searches by
checking the Retain Found Items checkbox. For example, if you first query
for the word "Akron" its results are listed. If you then check
Retain Found Items and search for the word "Cleveland," you will see the results
for both searches in the list.
All of the standard context menu features are available for the Fetch results including adding a bookmark to Hot Dogs or sending it to someone via email.
